The landmark event of EURAXESS brings together its national representatives to strengthen the network’s cohesion, give visibility to its achievements and to further discuss how to improve the attractiveness of the research profession and careers.

The Biennial Conference is the landmark event of EURAXESS. It brings together its national representatives to strengthen the network’s cohesion, give visibility to its achievements and to further discuss how to improve the attractiveness of the research profession and careers.
This year’s edition will take place on 10 – 12 June 2024 at the Silesian Museum in Katowice, Poland, in hybrid format.
Each edition of the Biennial Conference develops around a specific theme chosen by the European Commission together with the host city. In 2024, this will be the celebration of the 20-years anniversary of EURAXESS, the launch of the revamped EURAXESS website and the launch of the ERA TALENT PLATFORM.
The Conference it’s organized in close collaboration with the Polish BHO (Bridge Head Organization)/represented by NAWA (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange) and the City of Katowice.
Background
"EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion" is an initiative of the European Research Area (ERA). Established 20 years ago, the initiative aims at facilitating the movement of researchers, supporting career development, creating conditions for open and transparent recruitment, promoting cooperation between research performing organisations and fostering attractive research careers across Europe and beyond.
The network currently includes 43 European representatives (Member States and Associated) with more than 630 associated service centres, offering tailored information on 18 topics of support (VISA, pension, taxes etc.), and 9 international offices operating in various regions of the world.
Such network of people is supported by the online dimension, with a central European portal (hosting the dedicated Worldwide webpages as well) and 43 complementary national portals. As of January 2024, the European EURAXESS portal counts more than 14.000 registered organisations, more than 110.000 researchers active on the platform and an average of 62.000+ jobs, funding and hosting opportunities published each year.
The EURAXESS biennial conference, held every 2 years since 2011, has historically brought together around 200-300 participants from the 43 EURAXESS member countries. The conference is included in the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2024.
